Do It Yourself Hurricane Screen Measurement Instructions:
Follow these steps to ensure accurate measurements for your hurricane screens:
-
Always Measure from the Outside: Do not measure from the inside of your opening. Accuracy is crucial, and measurements should be taken from the exterior of your house.
-
Measurements Format: Provide width and height in inches. Avoid using fractions or decimals (e.g., "45"X 80").
-
Sequence of Measurement: Begin at the front entry, marking it as #1, and proceed counterclockwise. Measure all first-floor openings before moving to the second floor.
-
Number Openings Clearly: Label each opening systematically for easy reference.
-
Submit Opening Sizes for Quote: When seeking a quote, submit the sizes of the openings. Specify whether these are final measurements or the initial opening sizes. Our system will automatically add a 4-inch overlap to all sides.
-
Determine Wall Structure: Identify whether the structure around each opening is made of wood or concrete by knocking on the wall nearby. For concrete structures, a default 4-inch overlap is added on all sides. If there’s a window band, place anchors in the middle to avoid stucco damage. For wood structures, overlaps range from 1 to 2.5 inches based on construction. Perform a test drill to confirm solid wood anchor points.
-
Total Number of Openings: Please indicate the total number of openings that will require screens.
-
